Beneath the bustling, contemporary facade of modern Moscow lies a hidden nocturnal world governed by ancient rules and a ceaseless conflict between the Light and the Dark. This isn’t a simple battle of good versus evil, but a rigidly structured war unfolding alongside everyday life, where vampires and others operate under a treaty dictating when and where they can hunt. A member of the Day Watch, tasked with maintaining this fragile balance, unexpectedly finds himself in possession of a powerful artifact – a device capable of resurrecting a nearly obliterated Moscow from a prior apocalyptic event – and must navigate betrayals and escalating tensions as factions vie for control, complicating the already precarious peace. The film uniquely grounds fantastical elements in a realistic urban environment, blending gritty action sequences with a contemplative exploration of destiny and the inherent ambiguities of morality within a predetermined system.
