Life Stinks
A biting satire disguised as a broad comedy, *Life Stinks* follows a privileged advertising executive who impulsively wagers he can live for a month amongst the homeless population of Los Angeles. Beyond the initial premise of societal critique, the film distinguishes itself through its unexpectedly tender romance with a fiercely independent woman navigating life on the streets, a connection that forces a deeply uncomfortable self-reckoning. The narrative doesn’t shy away from the harsh realities of poverty but frames them through a deliberately exaggerated, almost cartoonish lens, amplifying the absurdity of class disparities, and ultimately exploring the unsettling notion that comfort can be a gilded cage. It's a surprisingly poignant look at the human need for connection, even – and perhaps especially – in the most unlikely of circumstances.
