Cadaver
In a desolate, post-apocalyptic landscape scarred by nuclear fallout, *Cadaver* unfolds within the claustrophobic confines of a grand, decaying hotel, offering a seemingly idyllic escape to a desperate family. This isn’t a story of survival against the elements, but a deeply unsettling descent into the theatrical, where a generous hotelier’s invitation to a performance quickly unravels into a nightmarish blurring of observer and observed. The film explores the primal need for connection and distraction in the face of utter ruin, manifested through disturbingly immersive and deliberately artificial spectacles that force its characters – and the audience – to confront uncomfortable truths about performance, identity, and the lengths people will go to for a fleeting sense of normalcy. It’s a uniquely unsettling experience, less focused on jump scares and more on a creeping, isolating dread, amplified by the unnerving theatricality and the claustrophobic stage upon which everyone is a potential performer or prey.
