## Synopsis

Samurai Pizza Cats (1990-1991) is a Japanese animated comedy series created by Mineo Fuji and produced by Sotsu, Tatsunoko Production and TV Tokyo. Set in the village of Little Tokyo, a town populated entirely by anthropomorphic animals, the show follows the Pizza Cats, a team of heroes who run a takeout pizza restaurant that serves as a cover for their real work. Yattarou leads the team, with Pururun and Sukashii alongside him, while Otama rounds out the crew. Their engine is simple and joyful: whenever a scheme by councillor Seymour Big Cheese, who secretly wants control of the village, threatens the town, the team is launched from a gun-shaped clock tower to stop it. Each of the fifty-four episodes is a self-contained adventure built from outlandish villains, gadgets and slapstick action. The single season carries a breezy, cheerful tone that mocks its own samurai and ninja heroics. Fans of Dr. Slump, Captain Planet and the Planeteers and Tiger Mask will find resonance in its playful blend of kids action and parody.
