## Synopsis

Reign Supreme (2022) is a French miniseries drama created by Hélier Cisterne, Katell Quillévéré, David Elkaïm and Vincent Poymiro for ARTE. Across six hour-long episodes, it dramatizes the beginnings of French hip hop through the birth of the rap group NTM. Melvin Boomer plays Didier Morville, who becomes the rapper Joey Starr, and Anthony Bajon plays Bruno Lopes, who becomes Kool Shen, as the two friends build their voice from the streets. Laïka Blanc-Francard plays Vivi, the dancer and graffiti artist known as Lady V, and Andranic Manet plays DJ Dee Nasty, whose talents push the group toward recognition. The engine of the story is the struggle to turn street creativity into a career, with each episode built around recording sessions, crews, rivalries, family pressures and the risks of a life lived on the edge. The series is a single continuing story with a self-contained arc in one season. Its setting is 1980s France, where graffiti walls, breakdance circles and makeshift studios define a scene still finding its name. The tone is gritty and heartfelt, rooted in friendship, ambition and the pull of the streets. Viewers who enjoy music biopics like Straight Outta Compton or ensemble rise stories like Empire will find resonance here.
