## Synopsis

Santa Evita (2022) is an Argentine historical drama miniseries based on a novel and produced for Star+. Natalia Oreiro plays Eva Peron, whose embalmed body is held for years after her death in 1952 while a mausoleum is planned that will never be built. Ernesto Alterio stars as Coronel Moori Koenig, the military officer tasked with keeping the corpse out of public view after the 1955 coup, and Darío Grandinetti appears as Juan Domingo Perón. The engine of the story is the regime's frantic effort to bury a dead icon whose hold on the people only grows in her absence, with each episode tracing the secret hiding, the grim paranoia of the officers, and the devotion of ordinary citizens who refuse to forget her. Told in a seven-episode limited series, the show moves between the Peronist years and the post-coup crackdown, building a feverish, melancholic atmosphere of surveillance and mourning. Its tone is austere and haunted, with political dread woven into every scene. Fans of Evita, The Crown and Narcos will find resonance in its portrait of a charismatic leader, state paranoia, and the political afterlife of a national myth.
