## Synopsis

Echo (2024) is a American crime action drama miniseries created for Hulu and Disney+ as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Alaqua Cox stars as Maya Lopez, a deaf Native American woman who is pursued by the criminal empire of Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio), the Kingpin, and who must return to her home community in Oklahoma. Her family, including her uncle Henry 'Black Crow' Lopez (Chaske Spencer) and her grandmother Chula Battiest (Tantoo Cardinal), pulls her back into old obligations and buried history. The engine of the five-episode story is Maya's struggle to outrun violent pursuers while confronting the family legacy she has tried to leave behind. Each episode moves at a steady, gritty pace, grounded in street-level confrontations rather than spectacle. The tone is tense, somber and character-driven, with moments of quiet reflection about identity, belonging and the cost of inherited violence. Set in present-day Oklahoma, the series draws on Native American culture and the Choctaw community to create a rooted sense of place. Its gritty, serious register and street-level crime sensibility invite comparison with Daredevil and Better Call Saul, and fans of Reservation Dogs will find resonance in its indigenous perspective and family-centered storytelling.
