## Synopsis

The Convict (Skazana, 2021-2024) is a Polish crime drama created for TVN and Player, a four-season serialized story that follows Alicja Mazur (Agata Kulesza), a successful judge known for severity toward criminals, who is unexpectedly accused of a murder she did not commit. Her engine is simple and urgent: she must prove her innocence while living among the very offenders she once sentenced. Michał Czernecki plays Paweł Witkowski, a figure tied to the case, while Aleksandra Adamska and Marta Malikowska play fellow inmates whose loyalties and rivalries shape daily life behind bars. Each season moves the central conspiracy forward through prison routines, hidden alliances, and legal setbacks, so viewers follow one continuing thread rather than standalone cases. The atmosphere is tense and claustrophobic, with a bleak institutional texture and moments of harsh emotional clarity. Fans of Orange Is the New Black, The Night Of and Prison Break will find resonance in its women's prison setting, its moral reckoning, and its patient unraveling of a frame-up set in contemporary Poland.
