## Synopsis

Fatma (2021) is a Turkish crime drama limited series created by Özgür Önurme and Ahmet Vatan and produced by Idea Film for Netflix. Burcu Biricik plays Fatma Yılmaz, a nondescript house cleaner reeling from tragedy who sets out on a murderous streak while searching for her missing husband and reckoning with old wounds. Around her move Uğur Yücel as the enigmatic Author, Mehmet Yılmaz Ak as Bayram, Hazal Türesan as Mine, and Gülçin Kültür Şahin as Kadriye, while Şehsuvar Aktaş plays the Police Chief closing in. The engine of the story is a quiet ordinary woman pushed past her limits, with each of its six episodes of roughly forty-two minutes tightening the net between her hidden violence and the investigation around her. Told as one continuing story across a single season, the series is set in present-day Turkey, in the modest streets and homes of working life. Its tone is bleak and tense, with a brooding, claustrophobic atmosphere and an undercurrent of grief that deepens the crime at its center. Viewers who enjoy Breaking Bad, Dexter and other morally fraught crime dramas will find resonance in its portrait of an everyday life slowly consumed by violence.
