## Synopsis

The Crowded Room is a 2023 American crime mystery miniseries created by Akiva Goldsman and released on Apple TV. Adapted from a novel, the ten-episode limited series follows Danny Sullivan (Tom Holland), a young man arrested for a shocking crime in 1979 Manhattan, and Dr. Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried), an unlikely investigator who must untangle the mystery behind his arrest. Around them move Candy Sullivan (Emmy Rossum), Matty Dunne (Thomas Sadoski) and Ariana (Sasha Lane), whose recollections clash and reshape what happened. Each episode peels back another layer of testimony, memory and private history, so the central question keeps shifting under the viewer's feet. The engine is a search for truth in a city where secrets are common and clinical explanations come with their own blind spots. The atmosphere is reflective and melancholic, with a mental health undercurrent and a queer dimension rooted in the city's late seventies streets. Fans of Mindhunter, Mare of Easttown and Mystic River will find resonance in its patient, character-driven unraveling of a crime and the people trapped within it.
