## Synopsis

The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! (2021) is a Japanese anime comedy series produced by Silver Link and broadcast on the Asahi TV network and its affiliates. Its protagonist is Jahy, once the feared second-in-command of the Dark Realm, voiced by Naomi Ohzora, who is suddenly reduced to a tiny, powerless body after a clash with a magical girl destroys the mana crystal that sustained her kingdom. Stranded in the human world, she lives in a cramped, crumbling one-room apartment where her plans to restore her empire keep getting interrupted by rent, chores and a part-time job at a store run by a manager voiced by Ai Kayano. The landlady, voiced by Yoko Hikasa, and fellow demons voiced by Kana Hanazawa and Mikako Komatsu add a quirky household around her. Each twenty-four minute episode is a self-contained slice of life built from small indignities and absurd schemes rather than a sweeping arc, and the single season of twenty episodes plays as a deadpan, irreverent parody of anime and magical girl conventions. The mood is breezy and sardonic, with a warm undertone of struggle. Fans of The Devil Is a Part-Timer! and Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid will find a similar blend of supernatural fish out of water humor and domestic absurdity.
