## Synopsis

Castlevania: Nocturne (2023-2025) is a Netflix adult animated dark fantasy series created by Clive Bradley, based on the Konami video game franchise. Richter Belmont (voiced by Edward Bluemel) carries his family's vampire-hunting legacy into a France convulsed by revolution, where he must stand against a ruthless, power-hungry vampire ruler. Annette (voiced by Thuso Mbedu) and Maria Renard (voiced by Pixie Davies) orbit his struggle, while Tera (voiced by Nastassja Kinski) and Olrox (voiced by Zahn McClarnon) add supernatural menace and shifting loyalties. The engine is simple and grim: a hunter bound by duty must fight monsters while the political world around him tears itself apart. Across two seasons of eight episodes each, the story unfolds as a serialized gothic action saga with brutal fights, gory set pieces, and a melancholic, blood-soaked atmosphere. Its sensibility is closer to a moody Gothic horror than a lighthearted fantasy. Fans of Castlevania, Berserk, and Blood of Zeus will find resonance in its dark tone and monster-hunting spectacle. The series was canceled after its second season, leaving its larger arc unresolved.
