## Synopsis

Scrapheap Challenge (1998-2010) is a British engineering game show created for Channel 4 and produced by RDF Media, running twelve seasons and 165 episodes. Presenters Robert Llewellyn, Lisa Rogers and Dick Strawbridge host teams of contestants who have ten hours to construct a working machine capable of a specific task, using only materials gathered from a scrapheap. The engine of each episode is the clock and the improvisation: teams must scavenge, argue over designs, and fix failing mechanisms before the deadline arrives. Each season is a self-contained run of build challenges rather than a continuing story, so episodes can be watched in any order. The tone is upbeat, hands-on and practical, with a warm British factual-entertainment spirit that celebrates ingenuity and tinkering. Fans of Junkyard Wars, Robot Wars and The Great British Bake Off will find the same appeal in competitive making under time pressure. The format was later exported to the United States as Junkyard Wars, and the series remains a fondly remembered example of accessible engineering television.
