## Synopsis

Ergo Proxy (2006) is a Japanese anime science fiction mystery series created by Shukou Murase and produced by Manglobe, airing on WOWOW Prime. Set thousands of years after Earth's atmosphere was destroyed, it follows Re-l Mayer (voice by Rie Saitou), a young female inspector with the Civilian Intelligence Office in the domed city of Romdo, a place that appears perfect but hides troubling secrets. Her investigation is driven by a strange message warning that something is awakening, and she is joined by companions including Vincent Law (voice by Koji Yusa) and Pino (voice by Akiko Yajima), whose presence complicates her search for the truth. The engine of the series is a slow-burn conspiracy, with each episode peeling back another layer of Romdo's order while raising questions about what it means to be human among androids. Across a single season of twenty-three episodes, the story moves through layered mysteries and intricate reveals. Its tone is dark and heavy, its atmosphere melancholic and bleak, with a cyberpunk sensibility that recalls the philosophical reach of Ghost in the Shell and Serial Experiments Lain. Fans of cyberpunk anime, android mysteries, and dystopian worlds will find resonance here.
