## Synopsis

The King of TV (2022-2023) is a Brazilian biographical drama series created by Ricardo Grynszpan, Marcus Baldini and André Barcinski for Star+. Built around Silvio Santos, the country's famous television presenter, played as an older man by José Rubens Chachá and as a young man by Mariano Mattos Martins, the story opens in 1988 as a serious health diagnosis threatens to end his career in front of the cameras. Leona Cavalli plays Íris Abravanel, and Larissa Nunes plays Cleusa, two of the figures who shape his life as the story moves between present reflection and the decades of struggle and ambition that carried him to the top of Brazilian broadcasting. The engine of the series is a showman's desire to hold on to the stage while confronting his own mortality, with each episode weaving business gambles, studio battles and personal costs into the arc of his rise. Across two seasons and sixteen episodes, the show is a biographical portrait of a media empire rather than a case-of-the-week format. Set in Brazil from the early television era through the 1980s, it carries a nostalgic, reflective tone, touched by ambition and melancholy. Fans of Fosse/Verdon and Walk the Line will find resonance in its portrait of a performer's life measured against his public image.
