## Synopsis

Catweazle (1970-1971) is a British fantasy comedy series created by Richard Carpenter for ITV, produced by London Weekend Television. Geoffrey Bayldon plays the title wizard, a medieval sorcerer who is transported into the modern English countryside and struggles to make his spells work. Charles Tingwell plays Mr. Bennet, and Moray Watson plays Lord Collingford, while Neil McCarthy and Robin Davies appear as the working characters who share the wizard's company. Across two seasons of thirteen episodes each, the stories are brief, self-contained adventures built around Catweazle's bewilderment at electric lights, telephones, cars and modern manners, and the small mishaps that follow from his failed incantations. The engine of each episode is simple: the wizard wants to return home or simply get by, and ordinary modern life keeps defeating him. The tone is gentle, whimsical and breezy, with a warm, slightly wistful nostalgia for an older Britain. Fans of Doctor Who, Bewitched and Mork and Mindy will find a similar mix of time displacement and affectionate comedy. Its short runtime and simple premise make it an easy, comforting watch for families.
