## Synopsis

Chapelwaite (2021) is an American gothic horror drama created by Peter Filardi and Jason Filardi for Epix. Adrien Brody stars as Captain Charles Boone, a widowed sea captain who moves his three children to his ancestral home in the seemingly sleepy coastal town of Preacher's Corners, Maine, in the 1850s. Alongside him, Emily Hampshire plays Rebecca Morgan and Jennifer Ens plays Honor Boone, and the household's older siblings carry their own burdens. The engine of the series is Boone's struggle to uncover the secrets of his family's sordid history and to stop a darkness that has passed through his bloodline for generations, while the town's polite surfaces hide something ancient and hungry. Each episode layers period dread, quiet domestic tension, and unsettling local legend, building toward confrontations with the supernatural. Adapted from a Stephen King short story, this single ten-episode season is a moody, atmospheric period piece, carried by brooding visuals and a sense of inherited doom. Fans of Penny Dreadful, The Haunting of Hill House and Salem's Lot will find resonance in its gothic melancholy and slow-burn menace. The series was canceled after its first season, leaving its central mystery unresolved.
