## Synopsis

Medabots (1999-2001) is a Japanese animated science fiction action series created by Rin Horuma and broadcast on TV Tokyo, with production work from BeeTrain and Production I.G. Set in a near future where children partner with artificial intelligence robots, the show follows Ikki Tenryou (voice by Michiru Yamazaki) and his robot Metabee (voice by Junko Takeuchi) as they compete in Robattles against rival Medafighters. Arika Amazake (voice by Eri Sendai) and the robot Brass (voice by Masami Suzuki) add rivalry and camaraderie to the roster. The engine of each episode is a battle in which the winner takes Medaparts from the defeated machine, so the young heroes must keep upgrading their arsenals while facing ever tougher opponents. Across two seasons and ninety-one episodes, the series delivers a steady stream of tournament-style duels with a large cast of hundreds of distinct robot designs. The tone is energetic, earnest and playful, emphasizing courage, teamwork and the bond between child and machine. Fans of Beyblade, Digimon Adventure and Pokémon will find a similar blend of collectible competition and kid-driven adventure, with a family-friendly sense of optimism throughout.
