## Synopsis

Somos. (2021) is a Mexican crime drama limited series created by James Schamus for Netflix. Set in the present-day Mexican border town of Allende, the six-episode story follows the townspeople whose ordinary lives are gradually overtaken by a powerful cartel's operations. The ensemble includes Paquito (Jesús Sida), Doña Chayo (Mercedes Hernández), Benjamín (Jero Medina) and Chema (Everardo Arzate), whose choices and loyalties tighten as the criminal machinery closes in around them. Each 45-minute episode builds quiet dread through everyday routines disrupted by violence, money and fear, while the miniseries traces how a community is slowly compromised rather than simply attacked. Inspired by true events, the series carries a grounded, somber tone, with a bleak sense of helplessness and a focus on families and neighbors caught between survival and complicity. Its portrait of the drug war will appeal to viewers who enjoy serialized narco dramas such as Narcos and Griselda, and to anyone drawn to socially grounded true-story crime television.
