## Synopsis

Professor T (2021-present) is a British crime mystery series created by Malin-Sarah Gozin and Paul Piedfort for ITV1, adapted from the Belgian drama of the same name. Ben Miller plays Professor Jasper Tempest, a Cambridge University criminologist whose obsessive compulsive disorder and domineering mother, played by Frances de la Tour, shape his daily life. He advises police detectives, including Dan Winters played by Barney White, on cases that resist ordinary investigation, using his unusual mind to read motive and behaviour where others see only noise. Each episode is largely self-contained, so the show plays like a case of the week procedural, while the professor's personal friction and a recurring cast of colleagues give the run a steady thread. The register is witty and character driven, with a sardonic streak softened by sympathy for an awkward genius who is smug yet vulnerable. Viewers who enjoy Monk and Sherlock will find the same blend of eccentric brilliance, sharp dialogue and British procedural polish. Its five seasons of six episodes each make it a comfortable, accessible watch.
