## Synopsis

Velma (2023-2024) is an American adult animated comedy mystery series created by Charlie Grandy for HBO Max. It reimagines the Scooby-Doo franchise, with Mindy Kaling voicing the bespectacled detective Velma, whose investigations push her to unravel the mysterious origins of Mystery, Inc. Constance Wu voices Daphne, Sam Richardson voices Norville, and Glenn Howerton voices Fred, with Jane Lynch as Donna and Sarayu Blue as Diya rounding out the principal cast. Across two seasons and 21 episodes of roughly 25 minutes each, the show is built around case-of-the-week crimes that lead to larger, darker threads and a gang of friends whose dynamics are rewritten for an older audience. Its engine is Velma's stubborn pursuit of the truth amid murder, grave robbing and disappearances, staged with raucous, crude humor. The tone is irreverent, playful and self-aware, mocking genre conventions while leaning on vulgarity and shock. Fans of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!, Harley Quinn and Big Mouth will find resonance in its mix of nostalgia and adult satire. The series was canceled after its second season.
