## Synopsis

On the Verge (2021) is a French-produced comedy-drama series created by Julie Delpy for OCS. Delpy stars as Justine alongside Sarah Jones as Yasmin, Elisabeth Shue as Anne and Alexia Landeau as Ella, four women whose lives collide as they chase romance and professional footing. The engine of the series is simple and personal: each woman wants a stable love life and a working future, and the obstacles are men who disappoint them, bosses who undervalue them, and the quiet panic of reaching midlife without the life they planned. Episodes unfold as loosely connected vignettes of dates, kitchen-table confessions, restaurant service and sudden career gambles rather than a single high-stakes plot. Set in pre-pandemic Los Angeles, the show has the sunny yet anxious texture of a city where ambition and loneliness sit side by side. The tone is wry, candid and frequently cringe-inducing, with flashes of tenderness between the friends. It was a single twelve-episode season of thirty-minute episodes, and its story was left unfinished after cancellation. Fans of Girls, Sex and the City and Divorce will find resonance in its frank humor about sex, friendship and the anxieties of midlife.
