## Synopsis

Death Valley Days (1952-1970) is an American syndicated western anthology series created by Ruth Woodman, with its roots in a radio program that began in 1930. Each episode dramatizes a true story from the old American West, particularly the Death Valley area, so the stories feel like regional legend brought to life. Rather than following one continuing cast, the series rotates through standalone tales of prospectors, outlaws, lawmen, and settlers, with frontier figures such as Billy the Kid appearing among the historical characters. Ronald Reagan, Robert Taylor, Dale Robertson, and Stanley Andrews served as hosts, and Andrews also appears as the Old Ranger who introduces the stories. The run spanned eighteen seasons and hundreds of episodes, a long syndicated television tradition built on sponsored, wholesome storytelling. The tone is earnest and instructive, with a warm civic pride in the landscape and its history. Fans of Gunsmoke, The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp, and Hallmark Hall of Fame will find a similar appeal in its family-friendly frontier drama.
