## Synopsis

McCartney 3, 2, 1 is a 2021 American music documentary miniseries created for Hulu, a six-episode limited series of roughly thirty-minute sit-down sessions. Paul McCartney speaks in depth with legendary record producer Rick Rubin, who guides the conversation through McCartney's years with The Beatles, the arena rock of Wings, and a career stretching across fifty years as a solo artist. Rubin's questions move through the creative process of writing and recording songs, and the talk stays close to the studio, the band, and the decisions that shaped famous records. Archive footage of John Lennon, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, George Martin, Jimi Hendrix, Édith Piaf, Little Richard and Roy Orbison is woven in to illustrate points as they arise, giving the conversation a layered sense of rock history. The tone is warm, reflective and unhurried, with the easy candor of two craftsmen comparing notes. Viewers who enjoy Peter Jackson's Get Back, intimate artist interviews and music retrospectives will find the same appeal in this close look at a songwriter reflecting on a lifetime of recordings.
