## Synopsis

Boundless (2022) is a Spanish historical adventure miniseries created by Patxi Amezcua for Prime Video. Across six episodes of roughly forty-two minutes each, it dramatizes the 1519 to 1522 expedition that became the first circumvallation of the globe. Rodrigo Santoro plays the ambitious navigator Magallanes, whose vision drives the fleet into unknown waters, while Álvaro Morte plays Elcano, the officer who must carry the voyage to its end. Capitán Cartagena (Sergio Peris-Mencheta), Pigafetta (Niccolò Senni) and Martino (Carlos Cuevas) round out the principal crew. The engine of the story is the constant friction between command and survival: scarce provisions, shifting alliances, mutiny, and the pull of a route no European has charted. Each episode moves the fleet through another stretch of open ocean and foreign shore, and the season is a single continuing expedition rather than a case-of-the-week format. Set in the 16th century Spanish empire, it captures the age of discovery in a tense, weathered register, with grounded production values and a melancholic sense of the price of ambition. Fans of Vikings, The Terror and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World will find resonance in its blend of maritime peril, period texture and charged human conflict.
