## Synopsis

Aranyak (2021) is an Indian Hindi-language crime mystery series created by Rohan Sippy for Netflix. Raveena Tandon plays Kasturi Dogra, a frazzled local police officer, opposite Parambrata Chatterjee as Angad Malik, the city-bred officer sent to succeed her. Their engine is a high-profile case: a foreign teenage tourist goes missing in a misty mountain village, and the investigation keeps turning up skeletons that the community would rather leave buried. Ashutosh Rana appears among the principal cast as Mahadev Dogra, and Zakir Hussain and Indraneil Sengupta round out the suspects and officials around the case. The story unfolds as one eight-episode arc of roughly forty-minute chapters, a single continuing investigation rather than a case of the week. Its atmosphere is damp, brooding and suspicious, with the village's landscape feeling as much like a character as the people. Along the way the search revives a long-forgotten legend of a savage serial killer lurking in the woods, blending folklore with grounded police work. Fans of Twin Peaks, Mare of Easttown and Sacred Games will find resonance in its rural dread and morally tangled investigation.
