## Synopsis

La desalmada (2021) is a Mexican telenovela created by Ximena Suárez, José Alberto Castro and Julián Aguilar for Las Estrellas. Livia Brito Pestana plays Fernanda Linares, a woman whose wedding night ends in her husband's murder and her own assault, leaving her consumed by a thirst for revenge. José Ron plays Rafael Toscano, a recent university graduate whose empathy opens a path back to love for her. Their story is carried by the schemes and rivalries of a wider family and social circle, with Kimberly Dos Ramos as Isabela Gallardo, Marjorie de Sousa as Julia Torreblanca and Marlene Favela as Leticia Lagos de Toscano adding pressure and intrigue around the central pair. Told across one run of 90 episodes, the series moves in the classic telenovela manner, with emotional reversals, heightened confrontations and long stretches of suffering and romantic yearning. Its register is melodramatic and sincere, weaving tragedy with the hope of a second chance. Fans of Rubí, La usurpadora and Yo soy Betty, la fea will find the same mix of revenge, romance and heartfelt excess in this Televisa-produced soap opera.
