## Synopsis

Brand New Cherry Flavor (2021) is an American limited series created by Lenore Zion and Nick Antosca for Netflix. Adapted from a novel, the eight-episode horror drama follows Lisa N. Nova (Rosa Salazar), an ambitious filmmaker who arrives in early 1990s Hollywood determined to make her first movie. Her path is shaped by a predatory industry and a mysterious figure named Boro (Catherine Keener), whose offers come with hidden costs. Each episode unspools a hallucinatory chain of sexual menace, dark sorcery, and escalating vengeance, with the boundaries between ambition and transformation steadily dissolving. Supporting turns from Eric Lange, Jeff Ward and Manny Jacinto deepen the sense of a town built on bargains and appetites. The look is lurid and dreamlike, the mood feverish and unsettling, and the body horror is frequent and deliberately uncomfortable. Fans of Twin Peaks, Mulholland Drive and Possession will find a similar pull toward surreal Hollywood dread and female-centered psychological unraveling. It rewards viewers who enjoy strange, adult horror that resists easy explanation and treats genre as a lens on power and desire.
