## Synopsis

Inspector Koo (2021) is a South Korean crime mystery series created by Seong Choy for JTBC. Lee Young-ae plays Koo Kyung-yi, a reclusive former police officer who reenters the investigative world as an insurance investigator, sifting through crime scenes that a serial killer has deliberately arranged within her own circle. Kim Hye-jun plays Song Yi-kyung, a figure tied to the case, while Kim Hae-sook appears as Director Yong among a supporting ensemble. The engine of the show is a patient, clue-by-clue hunt: each episode builds around a staged death, forcing Koo to read objects, habits and lies while the killer stays one step ahead. Across a single season of twelve roughly seventy-minute episodes, the story moves as one continuing chase rather than a case-of-the-week format. Set in contemporary Seoul, it carries the textured, wry rhythm of Korean television drama with a streak of black comedy running through its suspense. The tone is moody and stylish, with a darkly funny edge, and its soundtrack amplifies the stylized moments. Fans of Mare of Easttown, Monk and Hannibal will find resonance in its blend of unusual investigator, murder puzzle and sardonic wit.
