## Synopsis

Post Mortem: No One Dies in Skarnes (2021) is a Norwegian dark comedy horror series created by Petter Holmsen for Netflix. Live Hallangen (Kathrine Thorborg Johansen) is pronounced dead, then wakes hours later with a sudden hunger for blood, upending the plans of her brother Odd Hallangen (Elias Holmen Sørensen), who is struggling to keep the family funeral home afloat. Around them orbit Reinert (André Sørum), Judith (Kim Fairchild), Rose (Sara Khorami) and Dr. Sverre (Øystein Røger), whose lives tangle with the household's secrets and its growing problems. The engine of the show is the collision between mundane funeral home routine, with its paperwork, grieving clients and tight budgets, and a vampire who needs to be hidden from the town. The series is a single six-episode season of roughly forty-four-minute episodes, its cases and complications building across the run. Its tone is deadpan and morbid, with bloody bursts played against awkward family bickering and small-town unease. Viewers who enjoy What We Do in the Shadows for its undead domestic absurdity, or Six Feet Under for its macabre family-run mortuary, will find a similar mix of gallows humor and tender sibling loyalty in this Scandinavian take.
