## Synopsis

Benidorm (2007-2018) is a British ITV1 sitcom created by Derren Litten, a ten-season comedy set at the Solana, an all-inclusive resort on the Spanish coast. Sheila Reid plays Madge and Siobhan Finneran plays Janice Garvey, while Geoffrey Hutchings plays Mel Harvey, Abigail Cruttenden plays Kate Weedon, and Kenny Ireland plays Donald, a rotating cast of regulars and first-time holidaymakers whose trips keep going wrong. The engine is simple: each episode throws a cluster of guests and resort staff into one sunburnt tangle of romance, rivalry, and bad decisions, and the comedy grows from crossed plans and broad embarrassment. Its interlocking stories are delivered in a bright, bawdy ensemble style, with plenty of sex comedy and cheerful vulgarity. The result is a warm, breezy, irreverent view of British package holiday culture. Fans of Fawlty Towers, The Inbetweeners and Gavin and Stacey will find resonance in its ensemble chaos and broad, affectionate humour. The show runs across ten seasons, and its tone stays raucous, sun-soaked and familiar throughout.
