## Synopsis

Immortal Samsara (2022) is a Chinese xianxia fantasy romance series based on a novel and broadcast on Youku, a single-season run of 59 episodes. Yang Zi plays Yan Dan, the sole descendant of an ancient four-leaf scorpion tribe whose body is prized as medicine and who must forget her beloved Ying Yuan across eight centuries. Cheng Yi plays both Ying Yuan and his reincarnation Tang Zhou, a demon hunter, while Zhang Rui plays Yu Mo, Yan Dan's steadfast companion who takes her on errands of good deeds. Meng Ziyi plays Yan Dan's twin sister Zhi Xi, rounding out the principal circle. The engine of the story is a fated romance tested by memory loss and divine politics, as the group hunts four ancient artifacts while uncovering a mysterious secret. Episodes move through immortal cultivation, demon fights and sword combat set in a mythic ancient China. The atmosphere is wistful and romantic, with melancholy undertones and stately costume design. Fans of The Untamed and Eternal Love will find resonance in its star crossed immortal bond and reincarnated devotion.
