## Synopsis

Hum Paanch (1995-2006) is an Indian family sitcom created by Ekta Kapoor for Zee Telefilms, a long-running Hindi-language comedy. Middle-class white-collar worker Anand Mathur (Ashok Saraf) tries to maintain order at home while his five daughters hatch schemes that spiral into misunderstandings. His household includes his second wife Bina, his eldest daughter Meenakshi, and the younger Kajal, nicknamed Kajal Bhai. Adding to the strain, Anand's late first wife keeps speaking to him through her large wall-mounted portrait, nagging him and offering sarcastic advice. The engine of the show is simple: each episode builds from a daughter's plan or a household crisis, escalating through mistaken identities and small deceptions until Anand is cornered. Across two seasons and more than three hundred episodes, the format stays rooted in everyday domestic life in an urban Indian home. The tone is breezy and warm, with slapstick timing and gentle affection beneath the chaos. Fans of Shriman Shrimati, Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Bade Achhe Lagte Hain will find the same comfort in a bustling household sitcom.
