## Synopsis

Doogie Kamealoha, M.D. (2021-2023) is an American family comedy-drama series created by Kourtney Kang for Disney+. Lahela 'Doogie' Kamealoha (Peyton Elizabeth Lee) is a 16-year-old medical prodigy in Hawaii who is determined to build a real career as a physician while still living the ordinary messiness of high school, friendships and first crushes. Her engine is the tug between ambition and adolescence: she wants to prove herself in a hospital full of skeptical adults, while her friend Steph Denisco (Emma Meisel) and her family keep pulling her back toward a normal teenage life. Her father Kai Kamealoha (Matthew Sato) and her uncle Benny Kamealoha (Jason Scott Lee) form the caring, comical ohana that anchors each story, with brother Brian Patrick Kamealoha (Wes Tian) adding sibling mischief. Episodes mix clinic cases with household comedy and small coming-of-age dilemmas, so each story balances a medical problem against a personal one. The series spans two seasons and twenty episodes before its cancellation. Its tone is warm, breezy and lightly comic, with a sincere heart. Fans of Doogie Howser, M.D., Gifted and Fresh Off the Boat will find resonance in its blend of teen prodigy ambition, family sitcom warmth and island setting.
