## Synopsis

High Water is a Polish disaster drama miniseries created for Netflix, set in 1997 Wrocław. Across six episodes of roughly forty-four minutes each, the story follows scientists and local government officials as a destructive flood wave threatens the city. Agnieszka Żulewska plays Jaśmina Tremer, a figure at the center of the crisis, alongside Tomasz Schuchardt as Jakub Marczak, Ireneusz Czop as Andrzej Rębacz, and Anna Dymna as Lena Tremer. The engine of the series is the pressure of hard choices made under a rising clock: who warns whom, which evacuations are ordered, and how competing authorities respond when the water keeps coming. Each episode tightens the grip of the threat, with the tension resting on ordinary families as much as on the officials who govern them. The tone is grave and urgent, with a sober, procedural realism that foregrounds human cost and institutional strain. Fans of Chernobyl and disaster dramas with a political edge will find resonance here, as well as viewers drawn to grounded ensemble crisis storytelling. It is a single-season limited series, reflecting a true story rooted in a historical flood.
