## Synopsis

Welcome to Chippendales (2022-2023) is an American limited series created by Robert D. Siegel for Hulu. Kumail Nanjiani plays Somen "Steve" Banerjee, an Indian immigrant who becomes the unlikely founder of a male-stripping empire, and Murray Bartlett plays Nick De Noia, his volatile partner in the business. Annaleigh Ashford and Juliette Lewis round out the principal cast as figures who orbit the club's rising fortunes. The engine of the story is Steve's relentless drive to build something from nothing, with each episode a new escalation of scheme, ambition and collateral damage as he pushes past every obstacle in his path. Told across eight episodes, it moves as a single continuous arc rather than a case-of-the-week format. The series is set in the seventies and eighties American nightlife scene, a world of sleaze, glitter and unchecked ambition. Its tone is absurdist and darkly comic, with a bittersweet undercurrent that fans of Boogie Nights, Super Pumped and The Dropout will find resonance in, all of them spinning true-to-life rise-and-fall stories into satire.
