## Synopsis

Troppo (2022-2024) is an Australian crime drama series created by Yolanda Ramke for ABC TV. An eccentric private investigator with a criminal past, played by Thomas Jane as Ted Conkaffey, recruits a disgraced former cop, played by David Lyons as Lou Damford, to find a Korean tech pioneer who has vanished in the wilds of Far North Queensland. Amanda Pharrell, played by Nicole Chamoun, adds a sharp and watchful presence to the investigation. The engine of the show is the search itself, with each episode peeling back another layer of suspicion among people who have their own reasons to keep quiet, while the heat, isolation, and rough terrain of the tropical north press in on everyone involved. The series runs for two seasons of eight episodes each, with sixteen episodes in total, and plays as one continuing investigation rather than a case of the week. Its tone is wry and morally grey, with a dry humour sitting alongside real menace and a mounting sense of unease. Fans of Mystery Road and Top of the Lake will find resonance in its regional Australian setting, its flawed investigators, and its slow-building mystery.
