## Synopsis

Our Secret (2021) is a Chinese national-television romance drama series created by Er Dong Tu Zi for MangoTV. Chen Zheyuan plays Zhou Siyue, a rebellious genius, opposite Xu Mengjie as Ding Xian, a strong-willed and charming student often described as a modern Cinderella. The two begin as unlikely seatmates in a school setting, and the engine of the story is the slow accumulation of small daily exchanges that gradually turn rivalry and friction into understanding and mutual support. Supporting principals Wang Zexuan as Song Ziqi, Fan Zhixin as Su Baicong and Wang Yilan as Kong Shadi fill out the classroom and friendship circles, while the parental pressures and social expectations that surround young students add quiet obstacles. The series runs as a single 24-episode season of roughly 45 minutes per episode, a single continuing story rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its tone is gentle, sincere and wistful, with a warm atmosphere of youth, first crushes and the dependable comfort of friendship. Set in a contemporary Chinese school and campus milieu, it leans on the emotional register of first love and bonds that stand the test of time. Viewers who enjoy Meteor Garden and Heartstopper will find similar resonance in its school-set romance and tender sincerity.
