## Synopsis

Dead Ringers (2023) is an American prestige psychological drama miniseries created by Alice Birch for Prime Video. Rachel Weisz plays twin gynecologists Elliot and Beverly Mantle, siblings who share drugs, lovers and a relentless ambition to overturn outdated practices in women's healthcare. Their engine is the drive to push the boundaries of medical ethics, and the dangers that follow when that drive meets institutional resistance and their own fused identities. Supporting principals Britne Oldford as Genevieve, Poppy Liu as Greta and Jennifer Ehle as Rebecca orbit the twins, widening the circle of colleagues, lovers and rivals who test their loyalty. The six-episode limited series unfolds in contemporary clinics and private apartments, with a clinical, unsettling atmosphere that keeps the viewer off balance. Its tone is provocative, intense and unsettling, mixing sexual candor with body horror and a bleak sense of unease. Viewers who enjoy the uneasy twin dynamics of Black Swan, the provocative medical radicalism of The Knick, and the 1988 Cronenberg film that inspired it will find resonance here. The show is adapted from a novel, and its mix of bold ideas and cold, eerie intimacy makes it a standout for adult viewers.
