## Synopsis

Land of the Lost (1991-1992) is an American live-action children's science fiction adventure series created by Marty Krofft and Sid Krofft for ABC. Widowed father Tom Porter (Timothy Bottoms) and his teenage children Kevin (Robert Gavin) and younger sister Annie (Jenny Drugan) are trapped in a parallel world after their jeep tumbles through a time portal while they explore the countryside. Their engine is simple and sturdy: they must find food, shelter and a way to stay together while dodging dinosaurs, hostile creatures and the strange monkey-like people who share the land. Episodes are largely self-contained adventures built around a tree house base, a volcano and recurring encounters with aliens, a structure that makes it feel like a classic case-of-the-week outing with a continuing family core. Totaling 26 episodes across two seasons, the show carries the earnest, wholesome energy of early nineties Saturday morning television, with a light comedic streak and a constant sense of wonder. Fans of The Land Before Time and Lost in Space will find resonance in its mix of prehistoric marvels, family loyalty and gentle peril. The series was canceled after its second season, leaving its wider mysteries of the parallel world open.
