## Synopsis

Luna Park (2021) is an Italian period drama series created by Isabella Aguilar for Netflix. Set in 1960s Rome, it follows a free-spirited young woman raised within her family's travelling circus, whose chance meeting with a girl of wealthy descent sets off a chain of secrets, intrigue and unexpected loves. Edoardo Coen plays Matteo, Simona Tabasco plays Nora Marini, and Milvia Marigliano plays Nonna Mirande, while Ludovica Martino, Lia Grieco and Guglielmo Poggi fill out the principal ensemble. The engine of the series lies in the friction between the circus performer's rootless, instinctive world and the polished, guarded households of the city, with each episode weaving romance and hidden family histories into the tension between two social worlds. The show runs for a single season of six roughly fifty-minute episodes and was not renewed. Its tone is sensual, wistful and dramatic, with a glossy sixties atmosphere and a strong sense of outsider longing. Fans of Elite, The Crown and other European period dramas about class-crossing romance will find resonance here.
