## Synopsis

Nautilus (2024) is a British miniseries created by James Dormer for Prime Video, a ten-episode steampunk adventure that reimagines the origin of Captain Nemo from Jules Verne. Shazad Latif plays Nemo, an Indian prince robbed of his family and birthright and held prisoner by a mercantile company modeled on the East India Company, which fields its own army and keeps enslaved labour. Georgia Flood plays Humility Lucas, and Céline Menville plays Loti, both drawn into the captive's orbit as he schemes toward revenge. Luke Arnold, Jacob Collins-Levy and Damien Garvey round out the principal cast as officers and company directors who guard the corporation's power. The engine is a long game of escape, sabotage and retribution, with each episode layering new danger onto a plot that builds toward a vessel of the sea. The show moves with adventure-driven momentum, its tone sitting between brooding colonial drama and swashbuckling spectacle. Its steampunk machinery and underwater set pieces give it a stylized, handsomely mounted look. Viewers who enjoy The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen or Taboo will find a similar appetite for Victorian-era intrigue and imperial villainy. Its revisionist take on a classic adventure tale is divisive, but it suits anyone looking for a single-season story of revenge at sea.
