## Synopsis

Dead Boy Detectives (2024) is an American supernatural mystery series created by Steve Yockey for Netflix, adapted from the DC Comics characters. Teen ghosts Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri) run a detective business for the supernatural community, joined by clairvoyant Crystal Palace (Kassius Nelson). Their engine is simple: they take on strange cases from otherworldly clients, and each episode is built around a new mystery that pulls them deeper into the afterlife's underside. The story is a single eight-episode season with its main thread running through the whole run, rather than a purely case-of-the-week format. Their work is complicated when a powerful witch threatens their plans, raising the stakes. The tone blends irreverent humor, absurd situations and whimsical touches with dark fantasy and moments of unsettling menace. Set in a contemporary American milieu where ghosts and demons move among the living, the series keeps a sardonic, offbeat register throughout. Fans of Supernatural, Beetlejuice and The Good Place will find resonance in its mix of macabre comedy and supernatural investigation. The show was canceled after its single season, leaving its central storyline unfinished.
