## Synopsis

Pedro El Escamoso (2001-2003) is a Colombian comedic telenovela created by Luis Felipe Salamanca and Dago García for Caracol TV. Miguel Varoni plays Pedro Coral Tavera, a charming newcomer who moves to the big city and falls for Aura Helena Prada's Mónica Ferreira, a female executive whose professional world is as competitive as her romantic one. Around them, Sandra Reyes as Paula Andrea Dávila Serna and Diego Ramos as Sandro Bilicich complicate the central pairing, while Jairo Camargo and Fernando Solórzano supply the comic friction of the supporting households and workplaces. The engine of the show is a romantic triangle sustained across hundreds of episodes: each romantic misunderstanding, rivalry and reconciliation pushes the leads further into the complications of city life. Storylines unfold in daily installments, with new obstacles arriving as fast as old ones are resolved. Spanning a single season of 327 episodes, it is a long, serialized soap rather than a case-of-the-week format. Its warmth and gentle absurdity are rooted in the Latin American telenovela tradition, and its register is breezy, sincere and melodramatic, playfully self-aware about its own excess. Fans of Betty la fea, Ugly Betty and Yo soy Betty, la fea will find resonance in its blend of romance, class-tinged office comedy and heightened emotion.
