## Synopsis

The Inspector Lynley Mysteries (2002-2007) is a British BBC One crime series created by Elizabeth George, adapted from her novels. Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley (Nathaniel Parker) is a wealthy, aristocratic Scotland Yard officer who is teamed with the blunt, working class Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers (Sharon Small). Across six seasons of ninety-minute mysteries, the two must navigate their clashing backgrounds while solving London murders, each case built around a cast of suspects from the city's upper and lower social strata. The engine of the show is the uneasy partnership itself, as Lynley's composure and Havers's scrappy persistence pull against each other in interviews, interrogations and personal entanglements. The format is a case-of-the-week procedural with a gradually deepening bond running underneath it. Set in present-day London, the atmosphere is cosy yet melancholy, with a measured, character-driven pace. Viewers who enjoy Midsomer Murders, Vera and Morse will find a similar blend of British crime and literary mystery in this polished, gently wistful series.
