## Synopsis

Chantal (2022-present) is a Belgian Flemish crime comedy-drama created by Mathias Sercu for VRT 1 and Streamz. Maaike Cafmeyer stars as Inspector Chantal Vantomme, who arrives as the new coordinator of a small rural police office in Loveringem, a place nicknamed the Farwest of Flanders. Her engine is simple and sharp: she must win respect in a macho station where local colleagues like Rik Cloedt (Dries Heyneman) and Johnny D'Haese (Mathias Sercu) are set in their ways, while crimes hidden beneath the countryside's apparent tranquillity keep demanding attention. Each season mixes self-contained local cases with ongoing tensions inside the office, giving the show a steady, episodic rhythm across three seasons and twenty-two episodes so far. Set in the present day, it moves with deadpan humour, a wry sense of provincial absurdity and a grounded warmth toward its outsider heroine. Fans of Fargo, Shetland and Beau Dat will find resonance in its blend of rural crime, dry comedy and small community texture.
