## Synopsis

The Polygamist (2026-present) is a South African soap-style drama series created by Akin Omotoso for Netflix, adapted from a novel and carrying a telenovela-style register. Joyce Gomora (Gugu Gumede) presents herself online as the picture of marital perfection, until her husband Jonasi Gomora (S'Dumo Mtshali) and his many conquests drag the household into open scandal. Around them move Matipa Nkosi (Kwanele Mthethwa), Magesh Gomora (Kenneth Nkosi), Mpume Gomora (Noluthando Shabalala) and Menzi Gomora (Wonder Ndlovu), whose loyalties and grievances shift as secrets surface. The engine is simple and personal: a wife who wants her dignity back, a family that wants its reputation preserved, and a string of confrontations that escalate episode by episode. The series runs as one continuing story across a single season of twenty-two episodes, with its storylines unfolding in a nonlinear timeline. Its tone is heated and emotionally raw, with suspicion, humiliation and revenge driving each turn. Viewers who enjoy Generations, Isibaya, Dynasty and Big Little Lies will find the same appetite for domestic betrayal, glossy melodrama and family conflict.
