## Synopsis

Futuro desierto (2026- present) is a Mexican Netflix science fiction drama created for Netflix and produced in Spanish. Robotics engineer Alex, played by José María Yázpik, moves his family to Mexico to test humanoid androids in secret, and the project quickly strains his household and the people drawn into his work. Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey plays Maria, with Juan Carlos Remolina as Mikka and Karla Souza as Sara Alcala among the principal figures whose loyalties and fears shape the story. The engine of the series is the tension between a father's ambition and the moral cost of creating machines that behave like people. Each of the six episodes of its single season, each running about fifty-three minutes, builds the secrecy, pressure and emotional complications of the project in a steady, serialized way. The show is set in a near future Mexico where the presence of artificial beings forces families and workplaces to confront what they owe to one another. Its tone is quiet, unsettling and reflective, with a melancholic atmosphere and a steady undercurrent of dread. Viewers who enjoyed Westworld, Humans and Real Humans will find resonance in its questions about personhood, identity and the boundary between human and machine.
