## Synopsis

Dara-san of Reiwa (2026) is a Japanese anime supernatural slice of life comedy produced by Asahi Production and KADOKAWA and aired on AT-X. Across a single thirteen-episode season, siblings Hinata and Kaoru Misogiya stumble into a restricted, treacherous mountain forest and meet Dara-san, a self-named god of misfortune voiced by Mutsumi Tamura. Her frightening serpent appearance hides a character who is awkward, lonely, and surprisingly easy to talk to, and the engine of each episode is the slow, funny process of the two children and the townspeople around them learning to trust her. Episodes are made of small everyday errands, neighborhood mishaps, and folkloric encounters in a rural Japanese setting, with occasional glimpses of Dara-san's past life in feudal Japan adding weight to the mythology. The tone balances goofy humor with heartfelt moments and mild supernatural unease, so the show feels cozy and warm while still letting its youkai and ghost-tale roots show. Fans of Natsume's Book of Friends, Mononoke and Kamisama Kiss will find resonance in its gentle folklore, lonely spirits and unlikely found family bonds. Viewers looking for a light, wholesome anime to watch on their own schedule will find it a pleasant companion.
