## Synopsis

A Friend, a Murderer (2026) is a Danish true crime documentary miniseries released on Netflix. Across three roughly forty-one-minute episodes, it follows Amanda, Nichlas and Kiri, friends who discover that the serial criminal their small Danish town feared for eight years was someone close to them, a man who spent time with them while committing assaults, kidnappings and murder. The engine of the series is the slow, painful reconstruction of how the offender hid in plain sight, told through the testimony of the people who trusted him. Each episode mixes first person recollection, the town's accumulated fear and the investigators' pieces of evidence, so the story moves from dread to disbelief to grief. The tone is somber, intimate and harrowing, with a quiet, restrained atmosphere that lets the emotional wreckage sit. It is a limited series of three episodes, so the story is complete in a single compact run. Viewers who appreciate The Staircase, Making a Murderer and The Jinx will find the same mix of documentary intimacy and unsettling real world crime. Fans of Nordic true crime will recognize the sober, procedural approach to a community's worst secret.
